It's in The Expansion

I wrote the following piece on March 25th, 2019. I revisit this affirmation when my heart feels heavier than I know God wants it to be; days like today.

Over the last couple years, holidays have brought a lot of joy into my life; they've also brought a silent heaviness and what feels like an unrelatable solitude. For anyone whose heart is a little heavier today, perhaps tomorrow, or the next, this one's for you....and a reminder for, me.

I used to think that when my heart was breaking, it was shattering into hundreds of tiny pieces all of which I’d never be able to puzzle back together. Now I’ve learned that a heart doesn’t break. When love is abundant, a heart cracks open to expand to create more space.

That’s the ache. It’s in the expansion.

We do not lose pieces of our hearts, we gain space to hold more love. The transformation can be excruciating. It is also beautiful.

An abundance of love changes us. It transforms our whole being.

A heart doesn’t break. It expands.

Here's to expanding a little more today than yesterday. More Grace. More faith. More light. More Love.
