Resilience

This one’s for anyone who understands the gravity of the underlying resilience in this statement made by Nick Faldo on behalf of Jordan Spieth on Day 1 of the 2021 Masters Tournament.

It’s for the ones who have “hung in there.” Who’s thirst for excellence sustained them through the famine of a prolonged dry season. The ones who “rode the hard ride.” Those willing to brave the darkness day-in and day-out and somehow continue to find a way to stay guided by light, believing greatness never comes easy and trusting shadows always fall behind.

Here’s to the courage it takes to stand alone and say,

I am more. I want more. I am not done, yet.

Here’s to deep resilience; the kind that breaks us open to the possibility of becoming wholeheartedly stronger than ever before; and that which proves, in its innate toughness, just how fierce we know ourselves to be.

Here’s to giving ourselves that chance.

I’m really impressed by Jordan Spieth’s resilience and professionalism over these last three years and of course incredibly inspired by his comeback. On April 4th, he won the Valero Texas Open and ended his 3 1/2 year winless drought. During his post-win television interview he emotionally shared his sentiments on this testing-season of his life and golf career. He went on to share, “I can’t wait to thank those that have helped me through.” Talk about a stand-up comment just minutes after this momentous win. Bravo Jordan Spieth.

Hats off to your resilience and congratulations on your win.

Go chase that Green Jacket.
