The (hard) Work

I hope you find people who love what you love; and I hope you have the courage to put yourself out there when you do. Can’t lose when you show up to work that is a passion, and around people who share the sentiment.

It is often said, “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”

I’ve never sided with this opinion; not in sport, my professional career, personal development, relationships; life as a whole. In fact, I’ve always felt it’s quite the opposite.

If we love what we do, I believe the work is really hard; that we work harder every day of our lives. We work harder and smarter. We are more hungry; more accountable, more disciplined, more intentional, more focused, more determined. It’s undeniable, why we sweat more. And in doing so, we come to witness that our drops of sweat (literally and/or figuratively) that are the hard-work, are not drops of distress, but beads of love that accumulate around us, regenerate within us.  That’s the defining difference to me; the joy in the sweat; the joy in the work, the joy in the hardest-work we do: that which we love.

When we love what we do, whatever the spectrum of work is, we’re willing to give it all we’ve got for the opportunity to live in the intensity, commitment, and the passion that is, that becomes, a greatest love of our lives.
